Clean Energy Investment Grows by 22% in Q2

New investment in clean energy rose 22% to $41.7 billion in the Q2 vs. 1 year ago, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

Bloomberg reports that the figure represents an increase of 27% over Q1 and third highest increase on record.

The key driver was a jump in funding for solar thermal power plants, including projects developed by BrightSource Energy Inc., Nextera Energy Resources LLC and Eskom Holdings Ltd.

While China remained the biggest investor in clean energy projects, its funding fell 11% to $12 billion from the first three months of the year.
