Northeast States to Promote Electric Vehicle Adoption

The Northeast Electric Vehicle Network, a coalition of 10 states, announced that it plans to work toward installing charging stations throughout the region as well as attract private investment in clean vehicle infrastructure, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The network is being supported by a nearly $1 million Electric Vehicle Readiness Grant awarded to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

The 10 states that make up the network include Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The network aspires to account for 20% of President Barack Obama’s stated goal of 1 million plug-in vehicles on America’s roads by 2015.
